School Crosswalk Safety
The safety of the students at Bucklin Schools is always at the forefront of our thoughts and goals. As a school, we are looking for ways to improve the safety and security for all students. Within the first nine weeks of school, we have had three close calls related to traffic as a result of students not using the designated crosswalk. When students come to school in the morning and are dismissed from school in the afternoon, they are going between and behind parked cars to cross the highway. They are not using the south or north crosswalks. Our staff continues to remind students to use the crosswalks and to look both ways before crossing the highway.
The crosswalks are more visible to oncoming traffic than crossing the highway between parked cars and areas outside the crosswalks. We appreciate your help in encouraging your child(ren) to use the crosswalks and ask you to be a good role model and also use the crosswalks.
Thank you,
Tim Dusin, Principal 7-12
Sandy Schadegg, Principal PreK-6
