Re: Sack Lunches in the Lunchroom
Bucklin USD 459 operates a state approved Licensed Food Service Program and provides a nutritionally balanced meal at breakfast and lunch. The program receives state and federal reimbursements and is required to follow federal dietary guidelines. We realize that on some occasions students may prefer to bring a sack lunch from home. According to food service district guidelines a sack lunch that is brought from home must be meal ready and not need any additional warming or preparation since these prepared items can not be handled or heated in the licensed food service area and may not meet the required dietary guidelines as established by Child Nutrition and Wellness and the Kansas Department of Agriculture.
Please be aware that when providing a sack breakfast or lunch for your child that it must be a meal ready breakfast or lunch. We thank you for your cooperation.
