Lady Deuces Are League Volleyball Champions

The Bucklin Junior High volleyball team competed in the League Tournament hosted by Ashland on Monday, October 19, 2009. The Lady Deuces were seeded first with a league record of 4-0. South Central had the second seed at 3-1 and Ashland was third with a 2-2 record.
The Deuces opened play against the Fowler Goldbugs. The Deuces came out strong

taking an 11-5 early lead in the first set on a serving run by Morgan Hood. The final score was 25-13. The momentum and focus continued into the second set and they pulled out another win. 25-14. This put the Lady Deuces in the championship game against the #2 seeded South Central Timberwolves
The Championship match started out to be a close one with both sides dueling for the title. Once the Lady Deuces calmed their nerves their game plan started to fall into place. With the score at 18-16, Janae Price stepped up and served the next 5 points pulling the Lady Deuces to within two points of winning game one. A side out and service point saw the Lady Deuces winning the first game, 25 – 17.
One more win would give the ladies the League Championship and they came out ready to take the title home. Janae P. again got on a serving run and the Deuces were leading 11-5 early in the game. They never let up and with a total team effort won the second game 25-15.
The Lady Deuces end their season as the 2009 League Champions with a 7-2 overall record. 8th graders Morgan H., Charmayne A. Kalee K., Caitlyn D., Mariah C., Kat H., and Sydnie H. played their last game as a Lady Deuce Monday night.
