The Bucklin Red Deuces won their
second game of the season with a 52-28
win over the Minneola Wildcats. The Deuces defense came up big with
3 first
quarter fumble recoveries which led to 32 points. JaQuan M. had
another huge game for the Deuces with 5 running touchdowns and 1
touchdown
pass. Anthony J. scored a touchdown on a 37 yard run and 2 extra
points.
Trey D. caught a 29 yard pass for a touchdown. JaQuan led all
rushers
with 326 yards on 17 carries. Anthony had 9 rushes for 47 yards and
a pass
reception for 17 yards. Trey had 2 pass receptions for 37
yards.
Coach Coverdale's defense made a tremendous goal line stand at the
end
of the first quarter and the beginning of the second quarter.
Minneola had
what looked like a certain touchdown, but JaQuan tackled the runner
1 yard
from pay dirt! The Deuces front line led by Josh M., Tanner D.,
Colton
D., and Shay S. stopped the Wildcats on first and second down to
end
the first quarter. During the break between quarters Coach
Coverdale
challenged the defense to "Build a stonewall". On third down the
defense
pushed the Wildcats back to the 5 yard line. On fourth down
Minneola's tried
a pass and the Deuces stopped them on the 1 foot line! The "Stone
Wall" had
been built! What an effort by Red Deuces defense!
