The Bucklin Red Deuces open the 2009 football season with a
68-30
victory over the Spearville Junior Lancers. The Deuces racked up a
total of
321 yards of total offense. 8th graders JaQuan M. and Anthony J.
led the way for the Deuces. JaQuan ran for 253 yard, scoring 6
touchdowns
and two extra points. He also threw an 18 yard touchdown pass to a
wide open
Trey D. for 6 points. Anthony Jones accounted for 59 yards of
rushing
scoring 3 touchdowns and one extra point. Lakin P. scored an
extra
point on a bootleg around the right end to round out the scoring.
68 points
was the most the Red Deuces have scored since 2003 when the Deuces
beat
Spearville 80-50.
The tackle chart was led by JaQuan who had 12 solo tackles, 1
assisted
tackle and 2 fumble recoveries. Anthony J. 8 unassisted and 3
assist. 7th
grader Lakin P. 4 unassisted, 4 assist, and 2 fumble
recoveries.
Dustin G. had 2 unassisted and 2 assist. Trey D. had 1
unassisted
and 2 assist. Tanner D. had 2 unassisted tackles and Colton D. had
1
assisted tackle. Jac C. had 1 unassisted and 2 assists. Josh
M.,
Shay S., and Colin S. made valuable contributions to the Deuces
win
on Thursday night. The Red Deuces will travel to Minneola this
Thursday
night to take on the Wildcats, who lost their first game of the
season to
Mead16-44. Game time is set for 6:30.
