 JH BB vs Meade

The Bucklin Boys red deuces opened the season with two contests in the Greensburg preseason tournament.  The opening game of the season, on Nov. 6th, saw the boys fall to host Greensburg by a final score of 22 to 19.  The deuces enjoyed a lead for most of the first half and led at the 1st quarter by one point at 4 to 3.  Both teams scored six more points in the 2nd quarter.  At halftime Bucklin led 10 to 9.  Momentum shifted in the 3rd quarter as the Deuces could only score a single basket and lost the lead.  Greensburg led at that time by four points at 16 to 12.  The last quarter saw Greensburg move out to a larger lead, which was cut, to a three-point lead with just less than 10 seconds remaining.  A three pointer by Brian Seacat cut the lead to that margin but the clock ran out before Bucklin could get another scoring opportunity.  Final Score was Greensburg 22 Bucklin 19.

Scorers for Bucklin were as follows.  Blake-8  Brian-7  Anthony L.-2 and Lakin-2

The second game of the preseason tournament on Nov. 7th was hosted by Bucklin as the middle school team of Sacred Heart of Dodge City brought their team to play the Red Deuces.  A strong 1-3-1 half-court trap caused many turnovers and the contest was never close after the first minute.  The Sacred Heart team owned a 26 to 5 lead at the quarter and held a larger 42 to 5 margin at the halftime break.  The final score was Sacred Heart 56 Bucklin 12        Anthony L. had 6 points, Anthony J. had 3 points and Brian had 3 points.

On Thur. Nov 13 the Buffaloes of Meade showed an aggressive fullcourt press which resulted in many easy lay-ups and baskets.    The scoring by quarters showed Meade dominant in every period but the last.
