Mystery Readers Visit Elementary Classes
November 19, 2008
Bucklin School celebrated National Young Readers Week on November 14. Students had Mystery Readers come to their classroom and read a book. Clues about these readers had been given to the students so they could guess who was coming.
Local celebrities (businessmen/women, veterans, volunteer firemen, and school administrators) were invited to read a book and tell why reading is important to them. “Our main goal for this fun day was to remind students that reading is important in all walks of life” said Kathy Feikert, Title I teacher.
Mystery readers included Jim Smiley (Birney Motor owner and volunteer fireman and EMT), Mary Jane Constantine (Main Street Market owner), Kathy Leon (City librarian), Dee Fields (Bucklin Clinic receptionist), Lloyd Buckley (math teacher and Viet Nam veteran), Dave Slater (Iraq War veteran), Skip Landis (School superintendent), Tim Dusin (5-12 grade principal), and Sandy Schadegg (pre-school-4th grade principal.)
