Finish Foreign Exchange Student Visits Bucklin

Julia is a foreign exchange student from Helsinki Finland, who arrived in Kansas on July 20th to attend Bucklin High School. She comes from Lansi-helsingin Lukio School and will be in Bucklin for one year, leaving next summer. She came to America to learn about the culture, to speak English more fluently, and to get to know people. Julia is staying in the home of Joe and Stormy Davis.
Julia is the daughter of Heidi Sani and Kyesti Klemola, and has 2 siblings, Viivi (29), and Santeri (39). She enjoys hanging out with friends, playing the bass guitar, dancing and listening to music; she has many favorites types of music especially rock. Her favorite classes are history and music. When asked what she thought of Bucklin her response was “I love Bucklin, u rock.”
Brazilian Sighted in Bucklin High School

Taryanne traveled to Bucklin, Kansas July 18, 2008 for the 2008-2009 school year. Taryanne is a foreign exchange student from Campogramde, Brazil. She comes from a city with a population of about 1 million. Foreign exchange students do not get to choose which town they want to go to. She left behind her two parents and older brother, Jair Marcell in Brazil. She is residing with the Stuart family. Taryanne’s favorite hobbies include hanging out with friends, watching movies, swimming, and playing handball. She will be leaving the United States, heading back to Brazil next June or July. When asked what she thinks about Bucklin, she replied, “It’s really different and small.”
USD 459 Foreign Exchange Student Comes To Have Fun

Janika is one of the six new foreign exchange students at USD 459. Janika is a senior at Bucklin High School. She is from Rodgau, Germany. Her parents are Dieter and Cornelia Post. Janika is staying with the Stormy and Joe Davis family. Some of her favorite things to do are: dance and hang out with friends. Her favorite sport is softball. Janika decided to become a foreign exchange student because she thought it would be fun. Her favorite subject in school is current events. When asked what she thought of Bucklin High school she told us, “I like Bucklin, its cool”. She likes school in Bucklin better than in Germany because it isn’t as strict. Janika wants to also travel to Egypt some day.
German Learning At Bucklin High School

Christina comes to Bucklin to join the Red Aces. Christina is from Germany; she is currently staying with the Heath Ormord family. She says that her sister was her inspiration in coming to America. She arrived in Bucklin approximately 3 weeks ago, and is planning to leave in July.
She lives with her parents, 2 brothers, and 1 sister in Germany. She calls her family “crazy”. Her favorite hobby is to hang out with her friends. In her spare time she watches her favorite TV show “The Simpsons.” When asked how she likes Bucklin High School she replied, “This school is fun.”
Foreign Exchange Student Mixes With Bucklin High School Students

Stephan, 17, came to Bucklin from Tolier, Germany. Stephan arrived in Bucklin approximately one month ago and is now living with Mark and Donna Brown. He loves to play sports and he is currently #22 on the Bucklin Red Ace football team. He has traveled to many places including Morocco, Spain, France, and Greece. He is multilingual, meaning he can speak 3 or more languages. He speaks English, German, and French. Stephan was born on the 29th of December of 1990. He has a younger brother named Markus. Stephan came to the U.S. because he loves adventures and meeting new friends. When asked what’s the best part about Bucklin, he replied, “My family and my lovely friends.”
Timo Visits BHS

Six foreign exchange students are learning at Bucklin Schools. Four are from Germany, one from Brazil, and one from Finland. Timo is a senior from Germany. He is staying with host family Lance and Heidi Feikert.
He has one brother, Robin, 14 who is living in Germany. Timo likes the school, his host family, and the friends he’s made while staying in Bucklin, Kansas. He likes hanging out with friends and is currently playing for the Red Ace football team. Sailing and basketball are his favorite sports along with American football.
Timo would also like to visit New York City and California while he is in America. Timo arrived in the states on July 20, 2008 and in Bucklin on August 4, 2008. He chose America for the opportunity to speak English fluently. He will be leaving in June or July. When asked about his experience at Bucklin Schools he replied,” Fun, I love Bucklin, GO ACES!”
